Clinical Education and Strategies for Trauma-Informed Approaches to Pharmacy-Led HIV Prevention Efforts
Pharmacists are positioned to play a critical role in shifting who has access to tools for HIV prevention by making HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) more visible and accessible to those who stand to benefit most.
This course is available for any pharmacist or pharmacy technician, but some states have their own version to include state specific resources and protocols. Please check for the correct course before registering.
Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Information:
This program has been planned and implemented in accordance with the policies of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education through the sponsorship of OSU College of Pharmacy. The OSU College of Pharmacy is approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Upon completion of this activity, participants will receive a Statement of Completion, and a Statement of Credit shall be uploaded to CPE Monitor. Completion requires 1) Registration for the course 2) Completion of all modules 3) Passing a final exam with 80% or higher and 4) Completion of the program evaluation.
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe HIV epidemiology in Oregon and the United States
- Distinguish methods of HIV prevention, focusing on PrEP and PEP
- Utilize affirming language to recognize the diversity of lived experience as it relates to PrEP and PEP
- Describe how trauma impacts health outcomes
- Recognize how trauma shows up in patients and the healthcare workforce
- Utilize trauma-informed approaches to engage patients in HIV prevention services in pharmacy settings
