A Dose of Hope

Course Description

This presentation from the parent of a transgender youth struggling with anorexia, anxiety, depression and suicide tells their story as a family and the journey to recovery. Learn how their interface with all aspects of healthcare, including simple medical errors that had devastating consequences, and the importance of all members of the care team understanding all aspects of care. Be inspired by the power of hope, and how that is often the most powerful medicine of all.

Program Learning Objectives

  • Explain the impact of hormone therapy on developing adolescents, and the importance of closely monitoring mental and physical health for transitioning teenagers
  • Review the warning signs of suicidal behavior, and identify strategies for intervention
  • Discuss the role of clinical pharmacy in complex mental health cases, and how good oversight can prevent bad outcomes

This program has been planned and implemented in accordance with the policies of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education through the sponsorship of OSU College of Pharmacy.
