Beyond Pharmacotherapy: Precepting Today's Pharmacy Students is More Complex Than Ever

Course Description

Our profession is rapidly changing, and today’s pharmacy students are more complex than ever and, as a preceptor, it is not enough to just know how to teach how to provide patient care. In order to establish and maintain your student’s focus and motivation level, especially in remote learning environments, preceptors will need to have a holistic approach to understanding the individual needs of your student.

Program Learning Objectives

• Describe the changing conditions that influence the composition of entering P1 classes
• Explain how current trends int eh pharmacy work force are affecting student mindset during rotations
• Evaluate and determine the cause for a poor performing, unmotivated learner
• Apply effective strategies to motivate the learner using positive engaging techniques

Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Information:

This program has been planned and implemented in accordance with the policies of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education through the sponsorship of OSU College of Pharmacy. The OSU College of Pharmacy is approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Upon completion of this activity, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, and a Statement of Credit shall be uploaded to CPE Monitor. Completion requires 1) Registration for the course 2) Completion of all modules and 3) Completion of the program evaluation.
