Mythbusters: Vaccine Edition

Course Description

Vaccines are a crucial component of our public health system and one of the safest ways to protect the health of our population. Unfortunately, misinformation, distrust and fear prevent adequate uptake of needed immunization. Pharmacists are in position to answer patient questions, point them to credible sources of information and help empower people to make health decisions rooted in science. This program aims to identify resources to address vaccine related concerns, answer frequently asked questions about vaccine safety and develop tactics to discuss vaccination with patients.

Program Learning Objectives

  • Identify 3 resources for addressing patient/parent concerns regarding vaccine safety
  • Discuss the role of preservatives and adjuvants in vaccine preparation
  • Discern the difference between vaccine hesitancy and vaccine resistance and strategies to address both
